Antigenic and genetic characteristics of influenza A(H5N1)and influenza A(H9N2) viruses and candidate vaccine viruses developed for potential use in human vaccines.

چکیده

The development of representative A(H5N1) and A(H9N2) candidate influenza vaccine viruses, coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO), remains an essential component of the overall global strategy for pandemic preparedness. Comparisons of the candidate vaccine viruses with respect to immunogenicity and their relationship to newly emerging viruses are ongoing, and will be updated periodically by WHO. An update of current and completed vaccine clinical trials can be found at http://www.who.int/vaccine_research/diseases/influenza/flu_trials_tables/en/index.html

Molecular Identification of Pre-Existing Immunityin Human against H9N2 Influenza Viruses Using HLA-A*0201 Binding Peptides

Background and Aims: The contribution genetic and antigenic diversity of H9N2 influenza viruses in evading from immune responses, cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) epitopes in hemagglutinin (HA) protein restricted by HLA binding peptides was identified. Materials and Methods: Phylogenetic analyses were carried out for all of full length HA and deduced amino acid sequences of H9N2 viruses available ...

تغییرات ژنتیکی ویروس و فرار از سامانه ایمنی، چالش‌های پیش‌رو علیه آنفلوآنزا: مقاله مروری

The spread of influenza viruses in multiple bird and mammalian species is a worldwide serious threat to human and animal populations' health and raise major concern for ongoing pandemic in humans. Direct transmission of the avian viruses which have sialic acid specific receptors similar to human influenza viruses are a warning to the emergence of a new mutant strain that is likely to share mole...

Caspase Cleavage Motifs of Influenza Subtypes Proteins: Alternations May Switch Viral Pathogenicity

Background and Aims: The caspases are unique proteases that mediate the host cell apoptosis during viral infection. In this study, we identified the caspase cleavage motifs of H5N1 and H9N2 influenza viruses isolated during 1998-2012. Materials and Methods: Amino acid sequences of the eleven proteins encoded by the viruses as the caspase substrates downloaded from NCBI. The caspase cleavage mot...

Antigenic and genetic characteristics of H5N1 viruses and candidate vaccine viruses developed for potential use in human vaccines, February 2009.

Since their reemergence in 2003, H5N1 influenza viruses have become endemic in some countries and continue to cause outbreaks in poultry and sporadic human infections. It is not known if the next influenza pandemic will be caused by H5N1 viruses or, should one occur, which of the clades of H5N1 viruses would be responsible. However, because an H5N1 pandemic is a possibility, and one with potent...

Heamagglutinin Conserved Domain (HA2) Prepared in Prokaryotic System is Immunogenic in Mice but not Protective against Lethal Influenza Challenge

Background and Aims: Influenza vaccine production process is time-consuming with little-to-no cross-protection which requires annual adjustment. The construction of a universal vaccine to deal with the pandemics and epidemics which occasionally threat human population is the aim of many researches worldwide. Today, influenza vaccines are mostly against two major antigenic proteins, hemagglutini...
